  1. I wear an 8 in the Ryka Studio Flex and was wondering if I need to purchase a 1/2 size larger in the Transition. I can’t wait to get a pair.

    Comment by Mary — July 22, 2010 @ 10:10 am

  2. We’re very excited about the Transition. You will find that this new style will share the same “fit tip” as the Studio Flex. You can also contact our staff directly at 888.834.7952 with any questions about sizing.

    Comment by Teri – ryka.com staff — July 26, 2010 @ 5:04 pm

  3. I do alot of aerobics and step. Would you recommend this shoe? I currently wear the Flex, which I love!

    Comment by Lynda — July 29, 2010 @ 6:22 pm

  4. The Transition offers you a blend of crosstraining and studio shoe technologies. Exceptional breathability, cushioning and lateral stability, combined with a minimal-grip diamond-pattern rubber outsole, make the Transition training shoe ideal for studio work and dance classes where multidirectional movement and agility are key.

    Comment by Teri – ryka.com staff — July 30, 2010 @ 10:21 am

  5. I’m looking for a shoe I can wear to my Zumba classes at the local gym. My running shoes aren’t working for this. Will the transition shoe allow me to slide a bit more?

    Comment by Catherine — August 3, 2010 @ 5:52 pm

  6. The Transition will offer you proper lateral stability and cushioning, along with the diamond shaped rubber outsole that provides minimal grip which is perfect for studio and dance activities, such as Zumba.

    Comment by Teri – ryka.com staff — August 10, 2010 @ 4:45 pm

  7. My feet need a stable arch for good support, to work along with my orthotics. I know an easily bendable shoe is great for dance, but I need more stability than that. Can you tell me how strong the arch support in this model is?

    Comment by Alyce — August 13, 2010 @ 7:59 am

  8. You will find that the midsole on the Transition is designed to provide extra lateral stability support, the infused TPU clip works with the midsole to secure the heel and guide foot strike alignment. This style will also work well with your custom orthodic.

    Comment by Teri – ryka.com staff — August 13, 2010 @ 2:38 pm

  9. I love this shoe! I’m an aerobics instructor and have been wearing it to teach for a week now. It’s very comfortable, cushy, supportive, and cute! (Makes your feet look small.) :)

    Comment by Holly — September 2, 2010 @ 12:48 pm

  10. Can these shoes be used for walking outdoors or are they just for dance studio?

    Comment by Dorothy Walker — September 10, 2010 @ 4:42 pm

  11. I work out on a studio floor and don’t really need strong grip however, we cannot wear shoes with black souls–can you help

    Comment by janet — September 11, 2010 @ 4:52 pm

  12. We do offer studio styles with a lighter outsole such as the Studio Flex Low in white/angel blue, here and the Transition, here. Our outsoles are produced with a non-marking rubber for your use.

    Comment by Teri – ryka.com staff — September 14, 2010 @ 3:33 pm

  13. The Transition will allow versatility for you. It will provide the perfect combination of technology for your casual, training and studio needs whether you are inside or outside.

    Comment by Teri – ryka.com staff — September 14, 2010 @ 3:50 pm

  14. I purchased and adore the Studio Flex Low in black for my multiple Zumba classes. Almost instantly did away with my plantar faciitis. However, I then purchased the Studio Flex Low in pink and white, with the mostly leather upper – and they instantly hurt my feet. How do the Transitions compare to the Studio Flex Low, and are they also mostly a mesh upper or more leather?

    Comment by Kris — September 16, 2010 @ 10:49 pm

  15. I have worn out my Intensity XT3 shoes and can find none to buy to replace them. What would you suggest for someone who does Jazzercise 4 times a week?

    Comment by Rebecca Pursley — September 17, 2010 @ 11:52 am

  16. We would suggest the Studio Flex Low, here as a great low profile shoe that will offer you excellent cushioning, shock absorption, rebound and stability. If you would prefer a crosstraining style, then the Assist XT 2 will be a great replacement style for the Intensity XT 3. You will find the Assist XT 2 here.

    Comment by Teri – ryka.com staff — September 21, 2010 @ 12:06 pm

  17. The Transition will offer you a lightweight and breathable upper as it is primarily designed with a mesh material. You can wear the Transition for multiple studio and crosstraining activities and receive superb cushioning and lateral stability. You can take a look at the Transition here.

    Comment by Teri – ryka.com staff — September 21, 2010 @ 12:32 pm

  18. I recently bought the black womens transition shoes and they are so comfortable I could sleep in them! I am a dancer and do everything from ballet to zumba, and I feel like I’ve finally found the perfect studio dance shoe. They do run a little big so I needed a 1/2 size smaller than I normally wear in shoes. Because they are shaped more like a womens foot and don’t have a thick heal, I’m able to do quick intricate footwork in class without tripping up on my shoes. I highly recommend this style of shoes and they look great too.

    Comment by Dana Bouranis — September 24, 2010 @ 9:09 pm

  19. I have a Ryka SportWalker, but want a much lighter soled shoe. I found the Transitions that I like, but they don’t appear to come in a wide. Is that the case?

    Comment by Mary McK — October 1, 2010 @ 9:39 pm

  20. Does the shoe have any problems with slipping? I do zumba regularly in Florida, and the floors can get slippery with the combination of heat, lots of bodies, and sweat. These shoes look awesome, but I am worried about slipping and falling due to the minimal grip.

    Comment by Ashley — October 6, 2010 @ 3:10 pm

  21. The diamond shaped rubber outsole on the Transition will provide the proper grip that is perfect for studio and dance activities. We are sure you will find this technology perfect for your Zumba workout.

    Comment by Teri – ryka.com staff — October 7, 2010 @ 11:41 am

  22. I am looking for a shoe which takes me from teaching step aerobics to Hi/Low aerobics. I need a good arch support for my high arch, as well as excellent heel and forefoot cushioning as well as shoe not to be a narrow fit. Does this shoe fit my needs?

    Comment by Jeanette — October 12, 2010 @ 5:47 am

  23. Our Studio Flex Mid and Studio Flex Low are designed to meet all of your high and low impact studio needs. You will receive excellent cushioning, shock absorption, rebound and stability. You can take a look at these styles online here.

    Comment by Bonnie Aguirre — October 18, 2010 @ 5:31 pm

  26. We would recommend a true studio style such as the Studio Flex Mid or Studio Flex Low, here. Both of these styles will offer you excellent midfoot support that will help balance out your foot and assist with proper alignment.

    Comment by Teri – ryka.com staff — October 22, 2010 @ 2:16 pm

    Comment by Teri – ryka.com staff — December 9, 2010 @ 2:44 pm

  37. Does Ryka make Mens shoes? I have been wearing only Ryka for the last 5 years after I had foot surgury and my Doctor recomended them, my husband is diabetic and has many foot problems. I would love for him to wear Ryka shoes but I can’t seem to find them in mens?

    Comment by Lauri — December 10, 2010 @ 10:59 am

  38. I am a jazzercise instructor and have worn ryka shoes for years. I’ve recently along with several of my instructors have been experiencing problems with our feet, plantar faciitis, we all teach a lot of classes. Which style would you recommend to help eleviate/prevent this issue.

    Comment by sherri — December 10, 2010 @ 11:36 am

  39. Not sure if you’re familiar with the Tracy Anderson dance workouts, but would you suggest the ‘Transition’ for non-stop jumping floor exercises? I’m looking for shoes with excellent shock absorption. Thanks!

    Comment by Jaclyn — December 12, 2010 @ 1:05 am

  44. Since 1987, rykä has been producing footwear. Today rykä remains committed exclusively to women. All rykä shoes are made on a woman’s last (the mold or shape of a woman’s foot), and are designed and developed taking into account a women’s unique fit needs – narrower in the heel and wider in the forefoot (it’s not just you, our toes need more room and our heels slip too).

    Comment by Teri – ryka.com staff — December 13, 2010 @ 2:28 pm

  45. I bought the new Ryka Transition shoes for Zumba. The shoes are extremely comfortable and support my feet for all the forward, backward, and lateral movements. Have recommended them to other classmates. Love the shoes! Perfect for tai chi, too.

    Comment by Ginny — December 13, 2010 @ 11:44 pm

  46. How do the walking/cross training shoes run sizewise? I normally wear a 6 1/2 but buy a size larger in my sneakers. What would you suggest for your shoes? Thanks for your help.

    Comment by Dale — December 26, 2010 @ 12:15 pm

  52. Which Ryka shoe would you suggest is the best for Zumba classes; the low, mid or transition?
Our Zumba instructor mentioned she recently purchased the transition and loves them, but I noticed in your descriptions you mention the low for Zumba.
    Thanks

    Comment by Helen — January 31, 2011 @ 2:44 pm

  57. I’ve used Ryka shoes for the last 5 years. I’ve had problems with my feet hurting in other good name sneakers from years of wearing high heels. I love them and they are the only shows I can wear that don’t bother my feet after having them on for hours. Thank you Ryka.

  58. I am looking at the water shoes as I do water aerobics and have been putting a “gel” insole in the ones I am wearing now. I usually wear a 9 1/2 in regular shoes and a 10 in athletic shoes. I’m not sure what size to order.

    Comment by Sue Harrison — February 2, 2011 @ 2:06 pm

  59. The Transition studio shoe is the most popular style with our Zumba instructors. You will receive great cushioning and a generous base of support in the rear foot of this style. You will find the Transition online here.

    Comment by Jill — February 4, 2011 @ 7:31 pm

  61. I currently have a pair of Assist XT. I am in need of a new shoe. What are the differences between the Assist XT and the XT 2? I have bad knees and do a variety of classes==BOSU, step, interval training, bike, strength training. Thanks

    Comment by Bev Martin — February 5, 2011 @ 11:07 am

  62. Hi I currently wear the Ryka Revive 2 and love it but they are getting a little worn! I take turbo kick classes, lift weights, and run three to five miles stretches. I love the revive 2 for running but am wondering if there is one shoe that I could wear for all three. My main problem is my feet cramp up a lot in turbo kick but I love the breathability of the revive 2. I do not do well with the heavier shoes.

    Comment by Erin — February 7, 2011 @ 11:33 am

    Comment by Lisa — February 26, 2011 @ 11:36 am

I need a shoe with great cushion and support for some aerobic dance classes that I am taking (zumba, african, and hip hop)but I few I have tried from other companies have left me aching. Is there a shoe that can work for all of these classes but still offer enough cushion and support for me to get through the classes without the pain in my knees?

I thought she may be designing a clothing line for ryka. Are the clothes she wears for the ads going to be available to purchase as well. Please let me know. If not where does Kelly buy her running clothes from…..

  94. I love the Ryka Transitions, airy and light but very stable for zumba. I can not wear shoes with an elevated heel, Transitions feel like you are not even wearing shoes. I have even started wearing them to work standing on cement all day.

  97. What shoe do you suggest I get for Zumba and combat classes. I have been using a new pair of Nike running shoes for these classes and have found that my feet hurt and the back of my right leg from the calf to thigh. I attribute this to not wearing the correct shoe. I hope that you can suggest just one shoe since I prefer not having to buy too many shoes.

  99. We find that most consumers who are on their feet for extended periods of time are looking for styles that specialize in cushioning and arch support. Some of our neutral styles for someone with a normal foot type and who strikes/lands evenly will be the Revive 2 run, Revive run, Ultima 2 run, Ultima run and Sportwalker Classic, here.

  100. I own Intensity, and went to order and can’t find them anywhere. appears they have been discontinued. I use them for zumba 3x a week. What is their replacement shoe? I’m devastated, because i love my Intensity, and my dog buried one of them and I can’t find it anywhere!

  102. We are glad to hear that the Intensity XT crosstrainer worked out so well for you. We would suggest that you take a look at the Endure XT 2 as a great replacement style, here.

  104. I take jazzercise and I often suffer from shin splints. Can you recommend a shoe that would help?

  105. We suggest that you take a look at the Enhance, Synergy or Studio Flex Mid, online here. These are all high performance stability studio shoes that will offer excellent cushioning, shock absorption, rebound and stability and a wide base of support to meet both your high and low impact needs. The Studio Flex styles will be found under the “sale” link.

  106. I am a Zumba instructor who teaches 4 times a week/1-2 classes per day. I am looking for a style that is best for my high arches, a spacious toe box, and a shoe with cushion.

  107. We would recommend the Downbeat, Transition or Studio D (low cut) styles for your Zumba workout, here. All of these styles are dance inspired that offer you a smooth outsole that works perfect for the movements
performed during your Zumba workout. You will also receive great cushioning and support in these styles as well.

  108. I need a sneaker with a wide toe box but a small/normal size heel. I also can not wear a sneaker that is high because it hits and irritates my ankle bone. I just started Zumba. Any suggestions?

  109. The design of our footwear styles is to offer a woman a proper fit, wider in the forefoot and narrow in the heel. We would recommend the Transition or Studio D (low cut) styles for your Zumba workout, here. Both of these styles are dance inspired and offer you a smooth outsole that works perfect for the movements performed during your Zumba workout. You will also receive great cushioning and support in these styles as well.

  111. I do step aerobics, zumba and outdoors walking. What shoes would u recommend?

  112. Very nice athletic soeohut of 5 starsI was very happy to find this shoe on amazon. It was $15 less than I found everywhere else. I was told at an athletic store to buy a 1/2 size up from what I normally wear to allow for room inside when I jump and move so my toes aren’t squished. I feel there may be a bit too much room though. I love the look of these shoes and love the mesh on top, it lets in a great breeze. They are very comfy while exercising and jumping. I use them for Jazzercise (aerobics). You can’t see it in the photo but the white leather in the front has white flowers. I recommend these shoes.

  113. I wear a size 8/Eur39 for my sandals and 9/Eur40 for close toe shoes. What size should I order for the Synergy or Transition? Which of these 2 offers the best heel & knee support for high impact zumba classes involving lots of jumping?

    Thanks for your help =)

  114. Hi Cindy,

Thanks for your comment! I would suggest going with the size 9 if that is what you normally wear with closed toe shoes. I would also recommend the Transition for your Zumba classes. The Transition has IHG (Infused Heel Guidance) which isdesigned to provide extra lateral stability support and also secures the heel and guides foot strike alignment, great for jumping! Also the outsole design containts diamond shaped rubber provides minimal grip perfect for studio and dance activities.

    Hope that helps!

    Thanks!
